Steven Universe is an animated television show by Rebecca Sugar, developed while she was working on Adventure Time, that airs on Cartoon Network. It focuses on the adventures of a young boy called Steven who lives with the ‘Crystal Gems’ in Beach City who each have a unique special power and defend Earth from extra-terrestrial threats.
Peridot is a character from the series who initially starts out as an antagonist working as a Homeworld Gem technician, then becomes part of the Crystal Gems when she strikes up a truce with them to defeat the Cluster.
It has been a while since I wrote a Steven Universe tutorial so today we’ll be showing you how to create a Peridot Steven Universe Costume that will blow fellow fans away so be prepared to take endless selfies. Without further ado let’s get into the guide.
Table of Contents
Peridot Steven Universe Wig
Peridot light yellow hair styled upwards in a triangular shape, the best way to replicate this is with a blond 60’s style beehive wig. Once you have a suitable wig such as the one above style it with as much (extra hold) hair spray as you need until it is in place.
Peridot Steven Universe Cosplay
Next let’s move onto the creating the jumpsuit for Peridot’s cosplay. She wears a green V-neck jumpsuit with a dark-green diamond outline around the cut-out of her neck area, meeting to form a yellow diamond insignia at her solar chest area, with a dark-green segment between her chest and leggings. Then a pair of leggings that feature yellow toes and diamond-shaped knee pads.
Grab a green untired to use as your base and then paint on the dark green V-neck outline, and light yellow diamond shapes on chest and knees. Finish by paint on the dark green segment between chest and leggings.
Peridot also wears a visor that she never takes off throughout the show, you could wear a pair of transparent safety goggles to replicate this. Also don’t forget to add a green triangular gem to your forehead using spirit gum to stick it down.
Peridot Steven Universe Makeup
Here is a video tutorial that will help you bring this character to life with makeup and add dimension with contour so your face isn’t left completely flat.
Start by outlining where your visor and gem will go and then fill in the bottom of your face with medium dark green face paint, then contour your cheeks and lips a little with a darker green shadow for added dimension. Once the gem is in place stuck down with spirit gum paint the upper half of your face a lighter green by mixing your crème paint with plenty of white. Then use the same dark green eye shadow in your crease and blend it out. Now colour in your eyebrows with green eye shadow and line your eyes with green.
