Lilo and Stitch was a show that premièred on the Disney Channel in 2003 as a spin off from the popular feature film of the same name from 2002. It quickly gained a solid fanbase with wacky character and an equally engrossing storyline.

Chronicling the adventures of Lilo and Stitch (experiment 626 as a domesticated pet) as they aim to hunt down Jumba’s missing ‘experiments’, finding each experiment a suitable home to live and showing them the difference between right and wrong.

Here’s a popular premade outfit for Lilo aimed at toddlers before we dive into do it yourself instructions below.It includes everything you’ll need to transform your daughter into their favorite character including:

  • Red tank top
  • Hula skirt
  • Wrist leis
  • Leaf headband

You’ll want to add a pair of shoes to complete the look even though the reference image shows barefoot.

You’ll need: red tank top/belly top, green skirt, leaves or green tinsel. 

Creating Lilo’s memorable hula girl outfit from scratch is also an option and if you source all the items from your local thrift store you’ll save a few dollars too! Start with a red tank or belly top, then add a green skirt for the hula style skirt. Finish with green tinsel for your headband and arm leis, alternative create realistic leaf head and armbands out of real leaves if you’re feeling crafty.

When Lilo is not in hula girl mode she wears her everyday outfit consisting of red hibiscus flower dress/sarong. Very simple to source from a thrift store, look for Hawaiian themed outfits and it wouldn’t hurt to add a leaf headband to give everyone a better idea of who you are.
