Star War Episode VII: Force Awakens has blown literally everyone’s expectations out of the water, not only is it on track to become the highest grossing movie of all time it has graced our screens with three new heroes that everyone can relate to in some way.
One such hero comes in the form of Finn played by the talented British actor John Boyega alongside Poe and Rey joins a fight against the First Order after being subject to cruelty by them.
Below we’ll be looking at how you can create Finn’s Star Wars Costume whether that be for yourself or your child with plenty of options and instructions for those going the do it yourself route too.
Finn Star Wars Costume
I have no doubt this outfit will be super popular amongst children who will enjoy dressing up as this character during play time all year round not just at Halloween so here are a few different options for you to choose from for your child.
Both sets come with similar items including pants, top, jacket and boot covers. Keep in mind that blaster is not included despite being pictured and you’ll need to add a pair of black boots. Other than that your child is pretty much set to go.
Finn Star Wars Jacket
Looking for something a little more authentic than the choices we’ve covered so far? No problem this may be exactly what you are looking for (especially for cosplay conventions).
This is as close as you’ll get to the movie with ribbed leather shoulders with erect style collar with open fastening closure, real leather, a single chest pocket along with two unique waist pockets, dual inside pockets , excellent detailing and craftsmanship, the whole nine yards. Perfect for any Star Wars fan year round too.
Here are close ups of the material, many reviewers point out the reference images do not do the jacket justice and when it arrived was better than expected. If you’re going the do it yourself route you’ll have to find a jacket of a similar colorscheme (check thrift stores in your local area) and attach darker colored felt on top. Once you have the jacket in place it’s pretty much an object of adding a pair of regular black pants aswell as boots to complete the look.
Adult Finn Costume
Don’t think it’s just children that can dress as their favourite movie characters, adults can too with this cosplay set from Rubies which includes everything you’ll need to transform into the former Stormtrooper: pants with boot covers, jacket and attached shirt.
Fun fact: John Boyega was cast as Finn as the director wanted a fresh face that was relatively unknown so audiences could base their opinion of the character without any pre-conceived notions.
Finn Star Wars Blaster
As I said in the last post every hero needs a weapon on choice even if they’re kick ass enough on their own, and Finn’s weapon of choice is a blaster. No lightsaber here although he is seen using Skywalker’s one in the movie. Now that could mean many things but I’ll leave that up for you to infer. Now onto his blaster which includes orange and white pistol with strap.
There you have it a completed Finn cosplay that you can wear right away for Halloween or cosplay conventions, as I said in the last post keep an eye out on the blog as I continue to add more Star Wars Force Awakens themed tutorials for fans of the movie (great for groups too).
